Our first unit will focus on classifying and performing mathematical operations on both rational and irrational numbers in the real number system. We will first learn how to classify numbers. We will then focus on applying the mathematical operations of addition, subtraction, multiplying and dividing to integers and multi-digit decimals. The last portion of the unit will focus on simplifying, adding, subtracting and multiplying radicals. We will also review square roots and recognizing perfect square roots. Each of the skills from this unit will be further utilized throughout the remainder of the course. There will be a quiz on August 17 on integers and decimals. A second quiz will be given on August 19 on perfect squares. A practice test will be given on August 27 with the Unit Exam given on August 31.

Resources that can be used for review or additional practice can be found in CTLS. Please go to Unit One and click on the lesson resources button to locate the available materials.
